Rose Merritt has lived in Turlock for the past 15 years and was previously a longtime resident of nearby Merced. She has a son and three daughers, all of whom live in Turlock. She also has 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was already familiar with St. Thomas before she arrived here in September, 2003 because her sister-in-law had previously lived here. She formerly worked with one of her daughters in running a dress shop.

Rose's maiden name is Haggard and she is a counsin of the famous singer, Merle Haggard. Rose enjoys singing too and is quick to provide entertainment for the other residents.
